Default humminbird transducers

My humminbird wide 100 occasionally reads 500+ depths for short intervals,
usually when the boat is moving. It reads properly when back down to a slow
speed. My first transducer lasted about 3 years, gradually losing the
ability to read depth while in motion. I usually would have to stop
completely before it would start reading again. Not good when you are
trying to feel your way through rocky shallows. Eventually it was not
reading even after coming to a stop and I replaced the transducer. The new
transducer cost about 2/3 what I paid for the whole unit.

Now after 2 years it is starting to lose the readings at speed again. If in
another year it gets to the point of needing yet another transducer I will
likely replace the whole unit with a better one.

Well it looks like all the posts that I did last week actually showed
up... (Not that it is that difficult) I now look like an idiot... Gotta
love technology...

Does anyone else experience a fishfinder showing 200+ feet in 4 foot of
water for a few seconds then showing the actual depth? Is this normal or
should I call humminbird?

Thanks in advance

I hope this one goes through. I have been trying to reply on my other
post on the transducer but it just won't show up through google
groups.

Google groups have been really screwed, but don't worry- it doesn't
look like you've missed much.

Bunch of political garbage from the usual suspects. Pretty sad.

Unfortunately, I have written a couple of trip reports as well as a
couple of other posts, not just garbage, that have just dissappeared.
Even the posts that have showed up, are not regestering in the history
profile, They are just gone.
