Personal Attacks
Sorry, I wasn't trying to attack you, just recognize your, err, "special
status". I was over the line however and I apologize.
Think of this place like a bar. Anyone can walk in and you don't have to
deal with everyone. If you want to come in and go over and drink a beer
alone, that's fine. However, if you walk in wearing a mask, you can expect
to be treated a little differently.
As for your trip:
Hard to beat a cruising guide, even for places you know well. I didn't get
one for my last trip because I know my way around that part of the world
pretty well and tend to avoid places where you have to know who to ask about
things like moorings. I bought one after I got back and have been realizing
while browsing though it how much it would have contributed to enjoyment of
the trip.
I spent a lot of time sailing around Boston Harbor years ago. Fascinating
if a bit hectic. The islands are worth spending time in. Sunset over the
city as the lights come on is quite a sight. If you can get a dock or
mooring, there is something about walking around a large city knowing that
you will be returning to sleep on a sailboat capable of going long distances
that is just incredibly romantic. The city will look different to you even
if you have spent a lot of time there.
If I were doing your trip and had a crew however, I would take the offshore
route via Stellwagan Bank and look at whales. There isn't a lot between
Portland and P town that is nicer than the rest of the Cape.
