I have a Suzuki 9.9MCLS that I bought new. I am trying to figure out
the value. The problem is that NADA sais the average retail at
$370.00. I am not an unreasonable person, but this thing is mint!!!!
When I bought it I made a point of running it the first year until I
put in the break in hours and then I stopped using it. It has been in
storage ever since. I pulled it out for the first time in 12 years and
it started on the first pull and didn't even need to warm up before I
put it on low idle. When I say it looks brand new I am not
exaggerating one bit!!! Can someone give me an idea of what it might
be worth in the real world or even as a trade toward a row boat/
smaller engine?

Noone your side of the pond has replied so I might as well say my $0.02
worth. Might get some discussion going.

After 12 years sitting, seals and waterpump impeller are not to be
trusted. Mint would be purchaced but never unpacked. A new Suzuki DF9.9
can be had for about $2300. divide by 3 and subtract the cost of a full
dealer service and you'd be in the right ballpark. I doubt the NADA book
is much more than $100 low.

Expect to get screwed on a trade, unless its a private deal with someone
you trust (unless they specialise in older Suzukis and specifically are
looking for that engine, you wont be likely to get a better trade in
offer than their margin on the stuff you want. Its one thing to take a
trade and have to sell it on to make your profit, its quite another
thing to have to sell it on to get your costs back)
