Ever own a Galaxy transciever or one of the NCRs?
No but I did have a Hallicrafters SX-42 which was kind of an amazing
beast. My father bought it 1947 after ww2.

All my Dad's stuff was homebrew up until...

This was my first kit...

Up until I joined the service, I used the KWM-2 and my Dad's Collins
S-line - 32S-3, 75S-1, 62S-1 transverter, 312B-4/5 station consoles,
30L-1 linear plus the entire line of Heathkit Lunch Boxes. I still
have the S-line gear.
Post service, Swan 500C which was 'da bomb for the time. I also added
a Drake TR-4CW along the way.
After that, Kenwood Twins, Kenwood transcievers and eventually
settling on Yaesu.
Collins gear was always some of the finest available but way out of my
price range as a kid. My first transmitter was a Heatkkit DX-40 which
I built when I was 12 years old.

I graduated to a nice pair of Drake TR4 twins in the early 70s which I
still have stashed away in boxes somwhere.
