Coming back late this afternoon on our friends 30 footer (8 adults on board)
from the north end of Kelley's Island heading towards Huron, OH, out of no
where comes a 20 something foot boat marked "Border Patrol/Homeland
Security" with 4 armed officers and sirens blaring. We stop and they ask
us if we came from Canada or were fishing today (no to both) then zoomed
away. They were literally out of sight from us in a heartbeat (their boat
had four 220+ outboards and was obviously fast, even in 4+ foot [and
capping] Lake Erie seas).
We had to wonder if these guys are on some sort of mandate to stop 'x'
number of boats.....no one understood why they stopped us and then let us go
after asking 2 simple questions without a challenge or coming aboard.
Maybe looking for someone, or someting in particular. They could have
a 'deck of cards" of faces, and you did not match any. Did they
photograph you that you know of?
