Disposing of old polyester resin

Sorry if I gave the wrong impression. I don't advocate throwing goo
out. But a solid ball of plastic resin should be pretty much inert in
a landfill, and probably not against any regulations either. If it is
still gooey, that is another story.
I'm not proposing throwing out hazardous material, I'm saying that if you
were to mix a fresh batch of resin and mix in a mass of old, jelly, it
would cause it to all turn into a solid.
Works well with polyester, not so well with epoxy.
As it is, I have just a few ounces in the bottom of a pail and a few cans.
If I had more, I'd just save it for my next project.
The problem we have in our area is that we don't have a regular way to
dispose of "hazardous waste". My shed if full of old paint cans etc that I
can't take to the dump because they won't accept them. I'm in the process
of trying to have the goo dry out as that is the only condition under which
they'll accept them.
For the resin, I'm sure that they would stop me as soon as they saw the
hazardous goods label unless I can show them that it only contains an inert
mass.
You mention that there's a different issue with epoxy ... I have a couple of
small cans of that with dribs and drabs in the bottom - what's the
recommendation on it's disposal?
