Probably a stone kicked up - I don't think it was the round or he'd be
dead even with a distorted bullet.


It looked like he was shooting straight down range, parallel to the
ground. That bullet is going to go a mile or more before it hits the
ground unless there was something right in front of him but out of the
camera frame. I am guessing that was what happened and debris from the
target is what came back. You can also get jacket pieces coming back
at you if you shoot ball ammo at a hard surface but they don't travel
very far back.



The berm he's shooting at looks to be MUCH closer than a mile, which is
pretty dumb for .50 cal shooting. And, take another look at the ground in
front of him as you hear the whistle. Whatever hit him tapped the ground
first.

Although it makes sense to use a support while tuning up a gun, I'm not
impressed with people who use one for target shooting. What are they
proving? That they've got a good table?
