Default Trailer Braking Problem

Bryan wrote:
Hey Guys,
Happy 4th of July to all of you.

I'm having some trouble with my trailer. I have a ShoreLander trailer for
my 18 ft boat. The brakes are not activated electronically. When I stop,
something slides forward on the trailer and activates the brakes. The
problem is the brakes slam on each time I try to stop.

It could also be how you are braking. On mine, I will let off the
throttle with more than considerable distance for braking. Unlike my
wife that drives stop & go. she likes to wait to the last second to
hit the brakes then nose dives her van at the stop sign.

I know thats a bit exagerated (maybe not, though) .

Either that, or the spring that holds the tension of the tongue
reciever against the ball is weak, and when you brake, it allows the
trailer to move forward with little resistance, causing to brakes to
come on a bit hard.

just my views.
