Yes, they've added a bunch of those armed RIBs to their fleet here.
I'm a big fan of the CG, but I'm just a little terrorized by the idea
of a bunch of very young, very junior officers zipping about in fast
heavily armed boats. They are certainly oblivious to speed limits and
no wake zones. I hope they are more careful about gun safety than
they are about water safety, but I'm not feeling very secure about
that. The last time we headed out of here for New Zealand they were
running a gunnery exercise about three quarters of a mile south of our
marina. They were firing to sea towards one of the most popular
fishing areas in Hawaii and they had no picket boats and no useful
lookouts and weren't keeping a radio watch. We called sector and
waited to pass south of them but even sector was unable to raise them
on the radio until they'd finished firing...
