21' runabout on Lake Michigan???
Depending on the sounder, the specific installation details of the
transducer, and the speed of the boat, the sounder may not always be
believable. You must ALWAYS act as though the sounder does not exist. It's
sort of like your nose vs the kitchen timer or meat thermometer.

That's the sort of statement that makes me nervous, "beware the
shallows"... I have a depth sounder, but I've still had prop strikes
when sounder indicates 6 feet deep.
Should be fine......just keep a weather eye and beware the shallows.
Make
sure you have a chart of the area. Cell phone should not be a problem.

Staying at a resort on Rowley's Bay on the Lake Michigan side of Door
County. Is it reasonable or foolhardy to buzz around on Lake Michigan
with a 21' runabout, exploring the islands? Or on the Green Bay side?
I wouldn't go unless I had a radio - not sure about cellular coverage
out there, or at least a float plan with the wife if staying near
shore.
