What? You didn't take Earth Science in high school?

"Earth Science?" When I went to high school, there were courses called
biology, chemistry, physics. And yes, somewhere along the line we learned
about wind and weather. But there was nothing called "earth science." What's
this some PC creation designed to satisfy the enviros?

Must depend on where you were raised...I took Earth Science in 1966
....I further took ...my kids took Earth Science in the early 80's...my
husband qas qualified to teach the subject in 1970...so it's hardly a
new thing....some schools taught Physical SAcience which was a watered
down course composed mostly of small mechanics and minor physical
properties..some taught Earth Science..some taught both with the
mephasis for the college track being the Earth Science..it is the study
of the geophysical properties of the planet plus some astornomy...has
nothing to do with PC anything since what you are studying is mostly
aeons old...Earth Science is a compendium of paleontology, geology,
meteorology, oceanography and astronomy...it studies rock and mineral
identification, the scienctific process, water systems, etc. Since we do
live on this earth, it is important to know something about it. Sorry
tyour school was so deficient. SOme places also call it Physical
Geography as opposed to cutural Geography, which is not a science but a
social study.
