New Zealand outlaws smacking of children

Since the definition of "child" encompasses teens, I'd
disagree. Both my
mother and father spanked me--Dad with his bare hand, and
Mom with one of
Dad's oak fraternity paddles--and it was an effective
attitude readjustment
every time. As a result of the spankings I became neither
a child-abuser
with my own daughter, nor did I develop any antipathy for
my parents. To
the contrary, I gained respect for their word and their
rules. I had it
coming.
Benjamin Spock wrote--over 30 years ago--that spanking a
child is tantamount
to abuse, and will result in children becoming
sociopathic. So America quit
paddling the kids. The net result has been several
generations of adults
who cannot or will not accept authority of any form. Many
of these adults
are uniformly unsuccessful in their lives.
'BB Morgan' is a perfect example of this type of failure.
