I can honestly say that I've never heard of a piece of land in CT
going for $500K a .25 acre.
And I know for a fact that my place isn't worth any where near $646
milllion dollars. :)
Sounds like you need to scoop it up into a bunch of dump trucks and
haul it to Florida.
I was just thinking about that.
I wonder what a 320 acre island a mile or so off-shore would being in
terms of dollars.
I can tell you that an offer of $2 million was turned down by the owners
of a gas pipeline company for an unused offshore LNG pumping station.
There's such a station about a mile offshore in Chesapeake Bay, though
it is being used for its intended purpose now. It's called the "gas
docks." It's a very large concrete structure. About five years ago or
so, a group of us were going to pool some resources and prepare a bid to
take over the platform and turn it into an "offshore" gambling casino,
tackle shop, bar and whorehouse. One of us, a real estate lawyer,
prepared a bid letter and sent it off to the company that controlled the
platform. Unfortunately, they weren't interested in selling. :)
These days, the platform is being used to offload tankers. Too bad. It
would have made one hell of a party platform.
