Rebuild after 420 hours? What is this a cast aluminum Briggs and
Stratton?

I didn't say it NEEDED a rebuild; I'm saying the only way to get it to run
better would be for a full rebuild....

The boat runs fine -- doesn't leak or burn oil.
It has good even compression.

the engine isn't the issue.
