Default Absolutely on topic video link

So?

Don't forget where you came from, Harry. You have posted time and time
again that your father was the largest boat (or maybe it was outboard)
dealer on a major portion of the east coast for X number of decades.
Of course, that's when he wasn't soloing across the Atlantic in a
little skiff powered by an outboard motor, etc. Why such disdain for
anything sponsored by a trade association?

Is there some portion of the video you felt was untrue, or did it
simply fail to strike a chord with your personal experience?

Grow Boating is an organization designed not to market specific boats,
but to spread the word to the non-boating public about the joys of
recreational boating. Have you noticed that, in general, the average
age of people hanging around at marinas seems to go up about one year
every 12 months? Bringing new participants into boating is important
in many ways, and increasing the number of potential boat buyers is
not really at the top of the list. Would you, or anyone else for that
matter, be eager to buy a boat if you felt that when you were ready to
sell it there would be no market for it at all? We all depend upon an
infrastructure that requires a certain critical mass to sustain
itself; fuel docks, boat ramps, marinas, supply houses, repair shops,
etc all start disappearing when the number of boaters falls off. We
all benefit when new people take up boating.

To the video producers' credit, they didn't show anybody in a
particularly large or expensive boat. The emphasis was on the
experience of boating, not on the indulgence of "two-footitis". The
scenes where people seemed to be having the most fun were those where
the personal interactions were more important than the LOA or pricetag
of the boat itself.

It was surprising that anybody was offended by my introductory
comment. It was merely intended to point out the difference between
the recent "tone" in the NG and what the pastime is really all about.

\Bull****. It was just another example of your snarky "My sh*t doesn't
stink" attitude here.

No, not if you read it without a defensive perspective. Your anger and
your bitterness may be distorting your perceptions. Too bad.
