The new reporting rules in the UK include pepper spray and imitation
weapons as firearms. Airguns were actually used in the majority of
the "firearm" violence.

Because the reporting rules were dramatically changed in 1998, it is
not possible to make a meaningful comparisons between 1995 and 2005.
This of course does not prevent groups like LibertyPost from
misrepresenting the data. The truth is, last year there were about 75
firearm murders, about the same as a medium city in the US. The
actual rate per 100,000 is under a tenth of the safest state in the US.
