Default 115 merc starting hard.

The one thing you need to do in addition to what you do is push the cold
start throttle to full wide open. Use one hand on the throttle and one hand
on the key/ignition. Keep the throttle wide open until it fires and then
reduce throttle to about 2000 rpms. If it starts to die - just engage the
choke again.
Also, hold the choke engaged for the first 2 seconds or so and then start
cycling or you will flood the engine.

i have a 115 merc inline 6 1979. runs great, but starts hard when
cold. once its running, it will restart pretty easy. but when i first
try, it cranks and starts hard. it will start with starting fluid. is
there any special thing to do to start easier.? i pump the fuel ball
up till hard, and choke it, but still need starting fluid to start.
any sugestions??? thanks.
