This is way off topic of course, but I hate to see
Ted Armstrong's name mentioned in the same
sentence as this Rev Stair, and Jim Jones.

Ted was a lusty SOB, ex-navy, ex-smoker, and got
kicked out of the church his dad started for
compulsive gambling, excessive partying, and
supposedly fornicating with his secretary. He
died a few years back, after getting kicked out of
the church _he_ started for basically the same
reasons.

I can still hear his voice coming from the radio:
"And greetings friends around the world... This is
Garner Ted Armstrong bringing you the plain truth
about todays world news and the prophesies
of...the world tommorow." Takes me back to the
late 1960's and early 1970's.

I met him in person a few times back in the mid
70's--entertaining fellow, and not really scary at
all. I don't know what happened with him after that.
