Anybody willing to admit to observing any particular superstitions
when boating? You hear all sort of things, from
"no bananas allowed aboard", to no whistling allowed, etc.

I'm not personally sure I observe any boating superstitions, although
there is a fine line between a practical precaution and a
superstition. Maybe some of my behavior is superstitious and I don't
realize it.

BTW, one reason Friday the 13th is considered an "unlucky"
day is that it was Friday, October 13, when the King of France ordered
the Knights Templar killed and/or arrested to be killed later. (Lesson
to be learned, don't be richer than the king when he's trying to wage
an expensive war).

OMG.....talk about reaching to start a boating related thread. So you see
this as better than an OT post about Vonage?

You'd need to be an active boater to appreciate the number of
superstitions that some people observe. There are some very old
traditions that survive into the present age. If you can't relate,
that's entirely OK. One of these days I'll get into the actual spirit
of the NG and post about buying a lawn mower, pumping a septic tank,
etc, Jim. :-)

Boating season starts for me when I do not need to wear a winter
parka..................a boating uniform you wear year round.

Have a super weekend Chuck.
