Hi, I am looking at getting a '94 Zodiac Futura MK2C that apparently
hasn't been used very much. But getting a Zodiac of that vintage
seems to be a real crapshoot. If you google group search "zodiac glue
transom" or "zodiac class action suit" you wind up with a lot of info,
much of it not very encouraging. (but nothing absolutely definitive as
to 'problem years')

To top it off, I just got off the phone with a Florida Zodiac dealer
who admitted to the "bad glue" issues, & with further questioning,
said that this could happen to any Zodiac before 2000. The transom
could separate from the boat, or any of the seams could fail because
according to them, the pre-2000 glue was unsound.

I didn't want to have just the one dealer end the idea of me getting
this boat though. I'd be using it in the Northeast, and I hear the
sun is kinder in general to PVC boats around here, although the glue
is probably another issue.

It's a shame that I'm leaning against getting the boat now, because I
want an inflatable, the new Zodiaks are too expensive, and only
Zodiacs have the catamaran-like the speed tubes that look to be a very
good feature. Any Zodiac boat owners with a 90's boat care to chime
in with their experiences? Was there really a range of "bad years,"
or might they still have unresolved issues? Do repairs even hold if I
have problems, and about how much could I expect to spend on them?

Any info would be appreciated.
