Why we lettin some forign critter take over?
The manatee regulations may be to stringent, but the above is pure
BS. The manatee has been indigenous to Florida for over 45 million
years. Florida even has it's own subspecies, Trichechus manatus
latirostris.
Yeah, but 45 million years ago it must have come from somewhere.

Then, using the same analogy, humans must not be a native species of
earth, correct?
No - humans are actually evolved Ewoks because Darth Vader,
a long, long time ago in a galaxy far, far away f'd up the Ewok
moon, so they stole the remaining pieces of the Death Star and
migrated to this galaxy, had sex with Princess Leia and produced
offspring remarkably like Lucy, the theoretical proto-human found
in Ethiopia - which, at the time the Ewoks settled here, was a lush
tropical rain forest with a zillion foot high cedar trees and a really
cool power relay station for the Kzin who had originally settled
Earth, but devolved into lions, tigers and house cats after a disastrous
war with Puppeteers.
Hey, it could have happened...
