Sounds like it was either a case of sloppy workmanship or
overconfidence in material that resulted in an insufficient layup.
Or insufficient structural framing allowing panel flexing. Kevlar
doesn't like that very much and will delaminate.
Same problem with carbon fiber. Remember the America's Cup boat that
broke in half and sank?
