St. Johns River Becoming 1 Large Manatee Zone
All that would have to be done is dump the warm water in the ocean or run it
through a cooling tower.
The manatee nuts, excuse me "activists", won't hear of that.
It's worse than that. When our electrical plant was refitted to more efficient
boilers they were not producing enough hot water to insure a good winter refuge
for the manatee and the huggers insisted that they bring in auxillary boilers
to heat the water!!
That is a violation of the Endangered Species Act but they do it anyway.
Since they current water is not really that hot it wouldn't be that hard to
cool it in the winter.
When water gets much below 70f these things will swim away. They just forgot
how to migrate because of mans activity. I say fix the "root" offending
activity (heating water) and the rest becomes moot.
To the guy who complained about the loss of jobs, how about the loss of the
boating, dock building and water sport industry?
It is very interesting that the people who worry about the manatee the most
don't live within 100-1000 miles of them and use their boats wherever they
like. Jimmy Buffett didn't start SMC until he moved to Malibu!
