Default Boat TV?

Larry,
The disconnecting every few minutes and the seeking of confirmation
that you want to continue is something that your provider instituted.
It is not a necessity of the technology. With unlimited data plans,
there is no charge for individual packets (depending on the plan) and
thus they obviously wish to disconnect if you are not actively
watching TV. There is no technical reason apart from network and
access capacity on the IN why a 'disconnect' or 'continue' should be
forced. Once a connection is established it could continue forever.

I worked as a Tech. project manager for Vodafone with MMS (multimedia
messaging and a few other core network projects. My colleague next to
me was working on mobile tv. Of course we knew a lot about each
other's projects.
cheers
Peter

I know all that. But, alas, it's still the usual cellular dishonesty to
NOT tell the customer, right up front, that his TV is going to turn
itself off EVERY 10 MINUTES, just to try and save the company money.

Whatever they sell, there has to be some kind of deceit, or an out-and-
out lie, in there, somewhere.

I'm committed for 30 days...That should be long enough for them to fix
the STUPIDITY....

I'm not a friendly character when you lie or screw me.

The culprit could also be MobiTV, who provides the source of the feeds
Alltel simply transfers, too. They have a pecuinary interest in dumping
me every 10 minutes, too.
