Default Oday 22?

We hade an early 22 (#65) for many years (I think it's still sitting in my
cousin's back field).

Nice boat, but doesn't hold up very well if you like to sail - we had a lot
of rigging failures. Chainplates were a weak point. Sucks to have them
pull out on a reach.

With the short keel and rudder, it tended to round up as soon as you start
to heel more than about 30 degrees; using a genny it was usually manageable
(of course if you sail under just genny, you sometimes buckle the mast!)

We never won any races, but that can't be blamed entirely on the boat.

$2800 sounds like a lot, but if it has newish sails, trailer, rigging, etc,
it could be a good deal.

I saw an Oday 22 on a trailer for $2800 ( complete with a $1000 CB radio,
supposedly... ). Thought it might be fun to fix her up a bit, gunkhole
around the Gulf Islands in her... reminds me of my first cruising boat, a
Venture 22.

So: any Stories of Oday 22s? Are they really slower than a Columbia 22?
