Do you know that more people are killed by captive deer than any
other creature?

I'd like to see a cite for that.

I heard it on a cable TV nature channel program....a Florida wildlife
officer needed to capture a deer with barbed wire in it's head to be
able to remove it. Deer have tremendous strength in the leg and
bucks can do tremendous damage with their horns. They do not like to
be captured and penned.

If you want to prove it right or wrong then Google is your friend and
go for it.

Did. Couldn't find anything that backed up the claim that captive deer
kill more people than any other creature. As to their strength, and
ability to do damage, no debate. And, I can't think of any animal that
likes to be captured and penned.

In the end what difference does it make? ;-)

In the end, nothing posted in usenet makes any difference. It's all
cotton candy and cow pies. Mostly cow pies.

Now, in an attempt to bring this back on topic, I have a question for
the group. A friend insists that I wash and wax my boat while before I
re-launch it for the season. How necessary is that? Will it rot if I
don't?

I wash, polish and wax my boat before it is splashed for the season. I also
wash and wax the boat most every time I take it out from mid June to
September (when the water is warm enough for me to jump in at a shallow
sandy area). If I cannot get in the water I wash the boat at the dock
before taking it out.

I may be compulsive/obsessive but I like my boat to look clean when I take
it out, even for fishing. ;-)
