Sorry. I was just being flippant to a large degree.

Truth is though that it really is "secret evidence". Well, not secret
but unavailable for public release. Some of it is obtained from the
news media, which aren't releasing it either except for those parts
they want to. The media are within their rights. If the case, whatever
it may be, were to go to court the footage could be shown and then
become part of public record. Usually just showing it to the attorney
is enough. I'm not saying any of it is right or wrong. It's just the
way things are.

Some of it you wouldn't want to see on the news. A hostage getting her
throat slit; the flying brain matter of a cop, shot as he walked up to
a car he stopped to let the driver know he had a tailight out. Things
like that.
