Have no mercy on the Jews!

I never post to "alt.hacker", in fact I never heard of it. Go yell at the
original poster. (Or block his posts.)
The tactic used by the troll is designed in part to get around precisely
that eventuality. He posts an inflammatory remark to some newsgroups, and
sets the follow up to the group he intends to flood, rather than just the
groups that saw the OP. We may kill the troll's posts, but that doesn't mean
that posts from unrelated posters will be removed. In this way he can flood
a group with posts from a whole load of people whose posts are *not* blocked
(yet).
In fact he can use the posts of anyone who is willing to allow themselves to
be used in this way. As a result, the troll's posts are not directly causing
a problem, the posts of those who fall for the trick are.
The other advantage this method affords to a troll is volume. Every person
who replies makes the flood worse.
Hope this clarifies the situation.
