I can understand that, because of the points/coil ignition. That is if
his is set to origional specs. HEI did wonders for plug fouling and
performance. The coils put out about 14,000v. and HEI, even the
earliest ones put out about 40,000v. makes a big difference in firing
plugs and plug life. Now some cars are pumping up to 90-105,000v.


Many a mechanic has been "hit" by extremely high voltage ignition.
fortunately, most survive.
