Default Any suggestions (boat) before I spend a chunk of money...

Maybe so, if You plan to cross the Atlantic every time You use it...
Preparation is part of every trip, but offcourse not the same on a trip
across the Thames or Missisipi, as a trip across the Atlantic Ocean. If I
was to do that, I would start by getting the necessary experience on small
trips, then extending the duration until I was confident that I had the
necessary skills.

Also a rookie

Thank you, I already have contacted few schools via the net and one already
got back
to me and gave me some information via mail.

It can take few months to get the basic-to-advance schooling done but for the
international
water and long distance experience and teaching will take longer than that,
at least a year.

So based on that, I can start planning on it for now and also decide to move
back 'home'
in Cali, where I can take the courses and be close to the club and marina.

One might think this can only be done for pure pleasure or himself but I know
of many that
charter to yachts and make a decent money to maintain their hobby. I might
end up
doing the same once I complete all the necessary schooling and on-job
training.
