Default Can any one help me identify my yamaha outboard

Thanks for the reply. The Zodiac is rated for a 40 horse, although I'm
told tha that is a lot of motor for a 13 foot Zodie.

My question had more to do with the length of the shaft of the motor
and water depth espically if I were to replace the lower end with a
pump drive.

I have a 25 horse O/B manufacture Yamaha. The numbers that I can read
on the side a 25SD, 6L2 S, 104775.

I am interested to see what year this motor is so I can get a manual.
Also is this a motor that will work with a Zodiak?

Any help appreciated

Thanks

Can't help you much with the serial number, although I'd guess 25SD
might mean it's a 25HP engine with a single draft carb, 6L.....(this
probably is not a six cylinder)..who knows,
2S might mean two stroke and 104775 would mean it was the 104th engine
built in the month of July 1975 *if* it was the serial number of a boat
and not the serial number of an outboard......

But your other question:

How much motor is the Zodiac rated for? It should say on the transom
plate. (Good avice, eh, "go and consult the Zodiac for a sign") 25
horsepower seems like a lot of motor for one of the little 8-9 footers,
but there are "Zodiacs" out there that could handle a motor several
times larger.

I think shaft length does not matter when swapping with a jet leg. I think
it just splits at the top of the leg. Check with Specialty Manufacturing of
San Leandro, CA., as they make all the pumps.

As for pumps you might check www.ifish.net forumns and
www.riverjetmagazine.com forsale forums.
