Good point. I like the challenge of building something. Like I said,
I'm an engineer, and am looking for something challenging, since work
doesn't help me in that regard anymore. The warehouse I will be buying
(if not leasing) will be converted into lofts and possibly
retail/restaurant space as well as space for building a sailboat
(hopefully) and a hydrogen fuel cell Karman Ghia! Hope I'm not
boring you.

If you have the finances to buy a warehouse to house your boat project, why
not just buy a reasonable boat and purchase a smaller investment property of
which you can sub divide and rent at a profit. All the while enjoying
sailing your boat!

Hello,

My interest in building a sail boat has been mainly sparked by my
roommate. I recently purchased the book From A Bare Hull : How To
Build A Sailboat by Ferenc Mate and will be working through it before
making any final decisions. I've also read everything at
http://www.rutuonline.com/ (that I can find) and that is helping me
getting the bug .
I was wondering if anyone could give me tips on what I need long term
to build a small catamaran or single mast. I live in San Francisco, so
space is also limited. We will probably be buying or leasing a
warehouse for the project, so any tips on space requirements would also
be appreciated. Lastly, what major tool purchases need to be made in
the beginning in order to successfully complete the project?

Thank you!
