South Carolina is a "drive through as quickly as possible" state for me,
other than vacation visits to Charleston and Hilton Head, both of which
are worthy destinations. The coastal areas are pretty. In Georgia, I like
Savannah and the St. Simons area, but not the rest of the state.

The last time I wandered off the Interstate in South Carolina, I stopped
at a local equivalent of a convenience and souvenir shop, and saw flyers
behind the counter for an upcoming "organizing meeting" of the the Ku Klux
Klan.
