Fine, but I'll say the same thing to you that I said to Doug.
There is a point in time where it becomes useless and pointless to
continue. Quite frankly, nobody cares other than four or five
individuals who seem to want to **** on each other's shoes and carry
the discussion beyond what is reasonable.
OT is fine and I don't have the same problem with it that Chuck and
some others do - OT contributions can be fun and enlightening.
Until the grudges that get formed in the OT arguments begin creeping
into the on-topic threads. Until one day the NG header lists reads like
it did a year or so ago, with every 3rd or 4th header a personal attack
along the line of "So-and-so is a dirtbag liar" etc.
Folks who fail to find boating fun and/or discussion about the same
enlightening would be better advised to seek out newsgroups that better
reflect their interests than to clutter up a newsgroup organiized
around a specific "focus" with a steady stream of OT nonsense.
Anybody who has observed rec.boats for more than a week knows that
(like most NG's) the mixture of personalities here cannot discuss
certain topics in a rational manner. Fortunately, none of those topics
is boating related- so there's no damn reason except "bored and looking
for a fight" to introduce them.
