The problem with that whole thread is that not only did some lunatic kick it
off, a whole bunch of
people like JoesBedroom felt they had to add fuel to the fire. If you are going
to blame people
for that overlong thread, make sure you include everyone.

And to answer any allegations that I am just in it for the politics, I have been
a boat owner and
sailor for 35 years. I have almost exclusively posted items directly related to
boating on this forum
and other boat related forums. I do not subscribe to any of the political
forums. However, when
I see garbage like this on a boating site, I feel compelled to answer it.

I like Doug - he is witty and engaging. It's when he gets on his high
horse and starts "discussing" minutia of an event that has already
been sliced, diced and parsed in a bizillion ways long before. He
attracts others who don't have his sense of history and perspective,
not to mention his basic intelligence, then he gets frustrated with
them and discussions degenerate into who can **** on who's shoes the
longest.

And that's annoying.
