Default Australia helped Saddam's dictatorship

Jonathan... I'm pretty certain you and I have always been
in agreement about our dismay over the invasion of Iraq...
based on the justifications that were given back then.

Then again I have since tried to keep an open mind looking
for "a method behind all this madness"... so to speak.

I now suspect that this administrations has all along adopted
a "Machiavellianism" type of philosphy in trying to deal with a
very serious world wide threat... much less to our country and
the Israelis.

Hence the credibility gap that you and I were suspect of from
the git-go. But I'm certain that had the American public been
told the "cold hard truth" at that time we would have had difficulties
coping with it. Look at what American sentiment was prior to our
entry in World War II.

Time will tell... whether this administration's intent and tactics
are the answer to dealing with a very serious situation.

Note: I do wish that having once decided to invade and occupy
Iraq that more ground troops were employed. But that decision
would possibly require a draft which brings us back to square one...
public opinion and reaction.

Tis a difficult and complex situation that exists... regardless of
our political leanings.
