My Pacemaster treadmill has different programs built in.
I was up to 40 minutes and my max speed was around 4 mph. Anything over
that forced me into a half trot. The thing was like an elevator, going up
& down at certain intervals... sometimes at least a 4 degree incline.
I also have a Bowflex Ultimate exercise machine that I would use for about
45 minutes.

For me the inclines are a killer. Mine will go up to over 8 degrees and it
feels like you are mountain climbing.

How do you like the Bowflex machine? I've been eyeballing them. The
equipment I have is excellent stuff ... commercial Gold's Gym type, but I
think it's all outdated. Five machines, but each has a specific purpose,
unlike the Bowflex that does many things.

For 'old guys' like us, especially if space is a consideration, great.
On the other hand, the $5K CDN I spent on equipment would have bought me
about 10 years membership in a local gym.. a 10 minute walk south.
When young I loved free weights... at the local YMCA I reached my
personal best with a 325 bench press with an Olympic barbell.
A gang of regulars went and it was a social thing as much as exercise.
On Saturday mornings we always went to a close by tavern for quarts of
beer after a workout. Anyway..those days are gone .. so a regular
program of leg, chest, shoulder & arm exercises makes me feel much
better & sures firms me up. The Bowflex is effective, quiet and ok to
use once you get used to the different feel. I always thought they were
overpriced for something Made in China.
