Here's a new....um....workout routine for you.

Let me go on record... for all those that read this NG ....

Never saw or heard of one of those things.

Of course you haven't.

Nope - not you.

Uh - uh - never entered my mind.

It's been a long, long time since I got into any kind of exercise routine,
but it's starting to work.
I go down into the exercise room at about 6:30 am everyday and start off
doing the treadmill thing. I am up to a little over 2.6 miles on it ... do
the first mile at 3.8-4.0 mph at a 2.5 degree incline. (the incline is a
killer) At one mile, I keep the pace the same but drop the incline by
half. At two miles I drop the incline to zero .... then, over about an 8
minute period, slowly drop the speed down to a leisurely walk to cool down.
I have a TV mounted on the wall in the gym, so I watch Imus in the Morning
during this 40 minute ritual, ( or Bonanza reruns on weekends) otherwise
I'd be bored stiff.

Not too bad .... big improvement from day one when I went half a mile and
thought I would die.

Then I move over to the weight machines. Do a bunch of sit-ups on the bench
press seat, then do about 40-50 bench presses with just the bar .... no
weights yet. The bar by itself is 25 lbs and after 40 presses, the old arms
start to complain. Then over to the curl machine and do about 30 with
25lbs. Doesn't sound like much, but the arms can feel it.

Then ... over to some kind of machine where you sit on a seat and pull a bar
(attached to weights via pulleys) down in front of you, then up, then down
behind your head, then repeat. About 30 of those with 70 lbs of weight. By
this time I am huffing, puffing and sweating bullets.

Finally ... over to the leg lift machine and do about 20 lifts with about 40
lbs. Another killer.

There's one more machine down there ... you lay on your belly and do
weighted curls with your legs, but I skip this one, for now anyway.

So ... after 5 and a half weeks, I've dropped 17 lbs and am starting to feel
a heck of a lot better.
I am watching what I eat as well .... if fact I've probably over done that.
Doc says a pound a week weight loss is ideal, so I may increase the calorie
intake a bit.

Starting to get into it now .... I feel guilty if I don't get down there on
time or do anything less than I did the day before.
