True.

I rememeber the 27' didn't really steer hard, in fact the side pull was
pretty mild to the point of being almost un noticable.

.. But backing up was something else. regardless of how you turned the
rudder, it still would back up counter clockwise, I would not back
straight.

It was still a lot of fun!

The side pull on my little 17' isn't bad at plane speed, but is a bit
noticable. at low cruising speed it's a pull, and I can see where power
steering would be an advantage. But after looking at what it would take
to install PS on the I/O, I really don't think it's worth it.
