Was she naked? If so maybe, but IIRC the legend may be
a bit older than
your friend.

I think it has to do with volcanic holes and caves
sounding like organ
pipes in the wind.
Sailors at sea that hear the music are intrigued and
lured to find the
source.. but are sailing towards certain disaster.
