Default Am Cup 1992

That isn't a ASSY., its the regular Spinnaker releaded from the pole and
let fly across the finnish line as Am Cube was passing at the finnish.
Il Moro didn't break the finnish line ahead of AmCube; her spinnaker
did. I think it was the only race they won.

If that's the race they won, then their stem did cross the
line before America Cubed did. I remember one of the judges
explaining this point, he said it eliminated any arguing
about "gear in normal position" which is how the rules are
worded.

Il Moro didn't win by much, and it only proved that A3 was
the faster boat (by a lot IMHO)... and of course, that the
slower boat can sometimes win. Textbook case! A3 caught up
to them several times during that race, only to be shoved
back by Cayard's tactics.

The courses used for that America's Cup was also unique, an
X-shaped course intended to give some fast reaches. We did
some college races on a similar course, I liked it. Very few
other people did though, windward leeward is the standard.
