Their new stuff, bolder, tastes like stronger crap.
COFFEE THREAD!!!!!
Ok, so what do you consider a good cup of mass produced and marketed
coffee?
By the way, one of the best cups of coffee I've ever had was at Bien
Hoa AFB in Bien Hoa, SVN. We were there supporting the APE battalion
during the first Tet Offensive and while assembling in a hanger, I
grabbed a cup from a AF Master Sgt who was handing them out.
Took a sip, said "damn Sarge, that's good".
He says - "We clean the pots on a regular basis - with diesel fuel".
I didn't drink anymore of it, but what I did drink was pretty damn
good. :)
The Special Forces guys at Bien Hoa had pretty good coffee also. They put
on a fine breakfast in that club of theirs.
That was the club over on the 101st base right? Let me think, just
north of Bein Hoa City right over the hill from the long runway? Had
a 105 howitzer fire base attached to it?
We spent a night there after we were released from the air base - good
time if it was the same place.
They had a house band from the Philippines that did cover tunes - damn
they were good.
The Navy EM club at Cam Rahn Bay over by where the Swifts docked was a
great place too. Those Swifties knew how to party I'll tell you what.
Oh - 0h - I feel some war stories coming on.
Better quite while I'm ahead. :)
I'm not a coffee aficionado. I've enjoyed any of the bolder Starbucks
varieties, but I'd never go pay $20 a pound or more for coffee.
I actually quite coffee quite a number of years ago. Unless you
consider a Coffee Coolata or coffee ice cream "coffee".
Did the bar have a 'see through' photograph of Ann Margaret over the bar?
About a 3' by 5' portrait taken with infra-red so that the 'hot spots'
really stood out? (At least that was the story I was given by my brother,
an SF captain.)
When the sirens went off at Bien Hoa, and the mortars started coming in,
these folks just ordered another beer!
