Why clean 'em? With no milk, cream, powder or sugar all that's left is
dried coffee.
Gives the cup a seasoned, "conditioned" quality, much like conditioning a
cast iron frying pan.

I worked with a guy years ago, who decided to take his work coffee cup home
and run it through the dishwasher. Baked all the old deposits on and they
would actually crack off at times.
