Ok, I can see a problem with this approach if you're flying a 150% genoa.
Or even if you're using a smaller one and it's blowing. A difference
between dinghy sailing vs. keelboat.

A slow tack with the jib backed will slow the boat down
so it doesn't want to tack back over.
