Default Senator Carl Marcellino - stance on local sailing issues ?

there is another issue boiling a few miles farther east, in Peconic
Bay. I've been hanging out there since I was a kid, and people always
anchored in front of the Yacht Club, if you can call it that. It's a
quaint little building, with no hot water, and only a toilet and one
sink. No bar, no kitchen, etc., etc. Actually very nice in many
respects.

Anyway, it was rumored that they wanted to get rid of the anchored
sailboats in front of the club. This action was proposed by someone in
local government. Their reasoning was environmental. Someone looked
at ariel photographs of the site, and noticed that the chains were
leaving circles where sealife that lives on the bay floor was being
scraped away by the chains. Considering the size of the bay, and the
relatively minor size of the scraped areas, I can't believe it is doing
much damage, but looking for a reason to deny sailors the right to
anchor is what some people want to do.

just thought I'd pass that on, to let folks know what maybe coming.
Let's hope not. and furthermore, if it comes up in your area, fight it!
