If you read it or heard it on "fair and balanced" Fox it must be true.
"Metrosexual"?
Why do so many issues seem to boil down to intercourse or reproduction
with that group, anyway? But I guess they will keep telling the country
mice that the city mice are all corrupt and shouldn't be listened to.
Um....the term metrosexual, origin if you will, was with San Francisco
gay men who wanted to distinguish themselves from straight men who
exhibited the same sense of graceful style and fashion that gay men
exhibit.
It was also a Hollywood phenomenon in which straight male actors (if
there actually is such a creature) adopted gay fashion trends.
I seriously doubt if any of them think...em...er...conservatively.
Now, go ahead and ask me how I know that. Go ahead - I dare you. :)
I wonder what Fox would think of boaters wearing sandals?
I don't know what Fox would think, but my own personal opinion is that
sandals are for pansies.
Seems to be a common practice during the summer months, especially
among sailors.
Really? Hmmm - I can't think of anybody who has been on my boats that
wear or wore sandals.
Suppose sandals are "metrosexual" too? Or are they alright because
Jesus wore sandals and according to Pat Robertson he's a Bush
supporter? Or are they verbotin because them long haired, draft card
burning, war-opposing hippies were known to wear them in the 60's?
Damn hippies.
Wonder what Fox would think if Jesus showed up in flip-flops, George
Bush wore sandals, and the pink triangle fraternity all showed up in
combat boots? I guess it would be back to the drawing board, again, for
poor old "fear unbalanced" Fox. Is there a difference in masculinity
aboard my boat if I'm wearing my Topsiders and a friend or a guest is
wearing flip flops? Heck no.
Hmmm - me thinks Mr. Chuck isn't being very fair and balanced here.
Conclusion: Stereotypes and nearly always wrong except when being
promoted to be negative and devisive..(in that case they aren't nearly
always wrong, just plain always wrong). Boaters who prefer to avoid
thinking in stereotypes will wear whatever they damn well please and
whatever is appropriate for conditions. "Metrosexual". What a negative,
hateful, and divisive connotation. And how utterly silly!
Hate to ruin a perfectly good rant Chuck, but if it is derisive,
offensive and negative, it was the result of folk who only wanted to
disguinish themselves from those who they felt were mere imitators.
It's only a way of describing a fashion trend and is used by liberals
as well as conservatives. I'm a conservative and my normal mode of
dress is blue jeans, Docksiders in the summer, cowboy boots in the
winter, flannel shirts and baseball style hats in the summer, cowboy
hats in the winter.
Now if that ain't metrosexual, I don't know what is. :)
My normal footware is Teva Sandals. Those flip-flops hurt the part between
the toes where they rub, and easier to walk out of them.
