You can also buy soda ash from a pool supply store, used to increase
the ph of pool water.
Both are sodium carbonate. Baking soda is sodium bicarbonate.

You should wear gloves, make sure it doesn't sit for too long, that
is, rinse pretty quickly. The instructions say not to use on
fiberglass or aluminum, but I never saw a problem. Old teak turns
golden with just a light scrub, and them you hose it off.
