I got aboard a new 35' steel trawler today.
The boat is being imported by a dealer in Olympia, WA.
Very interesting.
Lot's of extremely "salty" touches. For example, many of the stowage areas for
items like binoculars, spare radios, etc are recessed wells rather than open
shelves. All exterior windows are set up to have Lexan storm covers bolted on.
Apparently the guy who owns the company that builds the boat has seveal
thousand miles of bluewater sailing to his credit.
This is a full displacement, round chine boat. Has a soft set dockside, despite
an impressive displacement. I suspect it will ride out about like a Lord Nelson
tug. Could possibly be a fairly decent sea boat.
Seems like a decent value. Single John Deere diesel, bow thruster, adequate
electronics package, etc, all for under $200k.
I'll be writing an article about this boat in late summer. Should be fun.
