Default Light Winds and extreme Tide Yesterday

Current wind is very important. I recall the experience of
sailing between the outer islands offshore Boothbay Harbour.
I tried to sail between two islands but soon discovered
I was making very little headway, even though the sails
were driving the boat into the wind.
It was then I discovered that the current wind and the
tide were acting against my actual forward movement.
To end the frustration, I gave up, made a 180 and
returned to BoothBay in Maine.
I must tell you that I too enjoyed a wonderful sail
in 20 degree temperatures on the Ottawa River.
Year end racing between the Britannia Yacht Club and
the Nepean Sailing Club, added to the fun.
And a glass of wine back in my mooring made my day.
