Does anyone know what reasonable cruising RPMs are for a Yamaha 150 hp
4 stroke?
Other than oil changes and filter changes, are there any other routine
maintenance items on these engines? Is there any special expertise
required for oil changes? What is typical engine longevity with good
care and feeding?
Thanks in advance.
Get an E-TEC. Then you don't have to worry about all that. :)
I hear you but one of the boats on our short list is a Grady-White 257
Advance with a pair of 150 hp 4 strokes on it, relatively low hours
(around 150 over 2 years).
Another one, a G-W 268 Islander comes with a pair of 200 hp Yamaha 2
strokes (Sal****er Series, OX-66s w/about 600 hours on them over 6
years). I'm a bit leary about buying 6 y/o 600 hour engines without
knowing their history, etc.
Looking at boat reviews, it seems like there is a consensus at around
3500 cruising RPMs but I'm interested in hearing what others are
running them at.
